Parent Teacher (Student) Association

PTSAs and PTAs are the same non-profits.  Yet, the only thing that is slightly different is that a student may serve on the board of directors of the PTA at the middle and high school levels which is designated by the "S" in PTSA.  However, there is role for students in PTA at the elementary school level and they should be involved with programming, advocacy and family engagement.

While not required, Aberdeen High School PTSA is requesting those who attend the Youth Leadership and Engagement Summit to be a member of a PTSA or PTA even if the student school doesn't have a PTSA/PTA or if you don't have a child within any school system.  Paying for a membership to a PTA may be tax deductible as they are charitable nonprofits.

Membership to PTAs is open to ANYONE who believes in and supports the mission, purposes, and principals, and pays dues in accordance with the bylaws of a constituent PTA. Once you are a member of a local unit PTA, you become a member of the Free State PTA (the state level PTA), and National PTA.  A Harford County Council PTA exist to and local unit PTAs may elect to be members of the Council PTA by paying dues as well.

Congratulations should you become a member of any local unit PTA.  You may donate to a local PTA via their online membership via Givebacks or go to the school office or website to obtain a form. The PTA does not discriminate and is noncommercial, nonsectarian, and nonpartisan.  Please see the Free State PTA bylaws.  We made it a little easier for you to become a member or at least donate to a local unit PT(S)A in Harford County.  Please direct questions about PTSAs or PTAs in general to the Harford County Council PTA.
