Policies, Guidance, and Expectations

Policies to abide by when attending the

Youth Leadership and Engagement Summit

  • The summit will adhere to behavioral conduct set by Harford County Public Schools.  ​

  • Students are eligible to attend only if they are a Harford County resident attending any middle school (6th, 7th, 8th) or high school (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th) in Maryland.

  • Students must attend workshop sessions or volunteer while they are at the Summit.

  • Book bags, oversized purses, firearms, and weapons are not permitted.   

  • Substances like drugs, tobacco, alcohol, and fireworks are strictly forbidden.  

  • Unauthorized interactions with students or adults in private settings are prohibited.    

  • Dress appropriately for weather with no sagging clothing and no face coverings. 

  • No wearing of hats or hoods while in-doors.

  • Non-consensual touching or touching areas of the body that would be covered by a bathing suit is banned.    

  • Derogatory or disrespectful language when addressing attendees is disallowed.    

  • Students as well as adults will be asked to leave or removed if found in violation of policies.    

  • It is the parents'/guardians' responsibility to obtain students upon completion of the sessions they attend.

 

Guidance to be aware of while attending the

Youth Leadership and Engagement Summit

      

  • Facilitators can conduct more than one workshop.

  • Parents may not assist or volunteer in a workshop in which a student in facilitating or attending.

  • Student facilitators will have an adult present in the room.

  • Attendees may be photographed or videotaped.

  • Cell phones may be used during workshops especially during Kahoot             

  • Middle school parents/guardians/rides should arrive no later than 4:50PM for pick-up.  

  • High School parents/guardians/rides should arrive no later than 5:00PM for pick-up.

   

Expectations of all facilitators before, during, and after attending the

Youth Leadership and Engagement Summit

  • Be early for set up and promptly dismiss

  • Be patient with youth

  • Have experience teaching or educating

  • Express enthusiasm for his or her craft/hobby

  • Implement a workshop lesson plan

  • Attend training on expectations

  • Submit a receipt for a stipend reimbursement (if funds allow)
